Energy Saving

Commercial battery storage

Tired of wasting your Solar PV gains? Commercial battery storage increases Solar PV self-consumption by up to 80%+. Or maybe you’d like to store cheaper off-peak electricity and use it during peak hours?  Perhaps you want a way to charge up EVs (Electric Vehicles) cost-effectively?

Whatever your need, commercial battery storage will put money back on your bottom line. Commercial battery storage technology is right for most businesses and dwellings.

And in case you need further convincing, customers on half-hourly tariffs can save an additional 15% on their energy bills.

IU Energy will –

  • Assess your need
  • Assess your site suitability
  • Recommend the most suitable type of commercial battery storage
  • Provide a fixed cost quote for installation

FAQs

Probably. While it’s almost always possible to retrofit a battery storage system on an existing solar system, the cost and ease of doing so is heavily dependent on your current set up, including if your business takes single or three phase electricity, and the size of your inverter. It’s better to plan for this when installing your solar PV, or better still, fit it at the same time.

The general range for a solar battery’s useful lifespan is between 5 and 15 years. If you install a solar battery today, you will likely need to replace it at least once to match the 25 to 30-year lifespan of your Solar PV system, if you have one fitted.

Quite possibly. For many, it is one answer to maintaining a 24/7 electricity supply.

Capacities for business energy storage vary from a few kW to multi MW capacities as can be seen in grid supplement applications.

They are usually installed in modules so it is easy to add more. For instance, you can install additional storage as your business grows.

No: The best technology is compatible with Economy 7 tariffs and Green Energy UK’s TIDE tariff. IU Energy works with the best battery manufacturers and thus we ensure their products are forward-compatible with other ‘smart’ tariffs forecast to become widespread once smart meters are fully installed.

Battery storage can reduce your electricity bills by up to 20% by storing solar energy during the day and discharging it in the evening. Battery technology can also charge from the grid, which means it can store cheap, off-peak electricity. Customers on ‘smart’ time-of-use tariffs can save an additional 15% on their energy bills by storing low-cost electricity and discharging it at peak time.

This varies from a few kW to multi MW capacities in grid supplement applications. Batteries can be combined to produce more storage as required.

We will need to talk to you to understand your requirement as this varies enormously from business to business. Please contact us.

The simple answer is yes; a battery storage installation will charge electric vehicles just as it will supply energy for the rest of your business. Battery storage simply extends the useful hours when you can recharge electric vehicles using Solar PV you’ve generated or off-peak electricity.

IU Energy uses technology brands that are selected for reliability, longevity, product range and warranty. Indeed, in general it applies in this case to all our renewable and energy saving brands.

For solar panel battery energy and off peak grid storage for businesses we use Solax for several reasons. The two main ones being ten year warranties and a guaranteed 6,000 cycles (one full charge and discharge).

Notably, the other major benefit is their clever portal. This enables you and us to monitor performance.  That is to say, it makes service and maintenance especially easy because we are aware of any problems before you are.

Not presently; battery storage isn’t a renewable energy source.
