Green gas for your business. Yes, you read that correctly.
IU Energy has been chasing this relentlessly ever since we got a whiff of it some months ago and we’re pleased to say that we can now start pricing it for anyone who’s interested.
What is Green Gas?
From one plant to another, Green Gas or Biomethane is a type of gas that can be produced from a number of sources, including bio-gas from anaerobic digestion, landfill gas, and synthetic gas.
These gases are captured, refined and then injected into the gas grid by green gas producers.
Green Gas is a substitute for natural gas as it has the same characteristics and specifications as fossil gas, but without many of the environmental drawbacks.
How do you purchase it for your business?
We’re making it easy for you to purchase this product and you can simply choose it instead of natural gas. Just ask us, or we’ll make you aware of it when we do a market search for you in any case.
With climate change now high on the political agenda and Government taxes and fines increasing for carbon polluters, this is very good news for businesses, along with the massive upsurge in green electricity production.
Coming from two well-respected energy suppliers, these are the first products of their type to actually reach the market, but it won’t be the last. IU Energy will be right there bringing every new green gas offer to our clients.
Choosing green gas can help you demonstrate your company’s renewable credentials and show your positive commitment to sustainable values. A choice that’s good for the planet and good for your business.
Green gas is fully backed by Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin (RGGOs), so businesses can report near-zero emissions from their gas consumption.
What are RGGOs?
The Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin (RGGO) simply certifies that the gas comes from a renewable source. RGGOs are issued for every 1kWh of green gas that has been produced and injected into the grid by these accredited sites.
By purchasing green gas, supported by RGGO accreditation, your company is making a commitment to renewable energy. Using it results in lower greenhouse gas emissions than the gas derived from fossil fuels that it replaces. It can also help you differentiate your business from competitors.
Display your Green Certification
When you sign up to a green gas tariff, you’ll receive a specially-designed certificate and logo.
Displaying this in your workplace or on letterheads and email footers demonstrates to clients and stakeholders your renewable energy credentials and shows your company’s positive commitment to sustainable values.
Coming soon, there is also a new carbon neutral gas product, with emissions offset through investment in sustainable development projects, such as clean energy, water treatment and forest management. All projects will be certified via The Gold Standard or the Verified Carbon Standard.
