Leading independent timber and builders merchants, Sydenhams, have a long tradition of supplying timber and building materials throughout Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Oxfordshire, Avon and the Isle of Wight.
Established in Poole in 1874, Sydenhams now incorporates a timber engineering business and supplies building needs throughout its network of 28 branches across the UK.
Sydenhams qualify for the government’s mandatory Energy Saving’s Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and contacted IU Energy after a personal recommendation was made from a similar business that had achieved ESOS compliance through IU Energy.
Sydenhams prepared well in-advance of the compliance deadline to ensure compliance was achieved by 5th Dec 2015. IU Energy were commissioned to conduct the in-depth energy audits across Sydenhams’ network of buildings and transport vehicles to produce a mandatory report, listing the savings identified.
The scheme requires large undertakings – employing 250 staff or more and/or have a turnover in excess of £38.9m and a balance sheet of £33.4m – to conduct mandatory energy assessments every 4 years.
